The development of the modular pump track Ecopumptrack

Our mission and history

The idea for Ecopumptrack arose from the conviction that a safe, sustainable and cost-effective pump track must be possible. Modular pump tracks were already on the market before we founded the company, but they were mostly made of fiberglass, a material that is neither recyclable nor ecologically sound. In addition, many of these pump tracks were unsafe in their design: straight sloping side walls, tight radii and hard edges significantly increased the risk of injury.

Our goal was a mobile pump track that can be flexibly set up, expanded and adapted – without compromising on safety, environmental friendliness and durability.

The search for the perfect material for a sustainable pump track

modulare Pumptrack

Our first solution was a modular pump track made of fiber cement, which we developed together with Eternit (Swisspearl). Although the material properties were convincing, production was too inflexible: the molds had to be created on site at the factory, which limited the customization options and delivery times.

Endwicklung der Fahrbahn

We tested alternative materials such as PLA flax fiber plastic and wood, but none of these solutions met our requirements. Wood in particular posed a challenge, as the driving surface of a modular pump track has to be bent in three axes to ensure smooth transitions and optimum driving characteristics.

Then we made a crucial discovery: recycled plastic.

This material offers all the properties that a high-quality, safe and ecological pump track needs:

  • Easy to shape – enables smooth transitions without hard edges.
  • Durable & weather-resistant – for long-term outdoor use.
  • Optimum slip resistance – sufficient grip even in the rain, without the risk of serious abrasions.
  • Shock-absorbing – reduces the risk of injury in the event of a fall.
  • Sustainable use of resources – instead of being incinerated, the plastic is given a second life.

Perfect geometry for maximum riding fun and safety

Together with bike guides, trail builders and pump track riders, we developed the optimum shape for our modular pump track. A key safety feature is the design of the side walls: instead of falling steeply, they slope gently downwards. This creates a greater sense of safety and keeps the pump track interesting for beginners and experienced riders alike.

Thanks to the special surface structure of our material, we were also able to achieve a further advantage: The light cushioning absorbs shocks, which further reduces the risk of injury and improves riding comfort.

Ecopumptrack - The mobile pump track for communities, schools and events

Our modular pump track is not only an environmentally friendly alternative to conventional systems, but also a flexible and economical solution for municipalities, schools and event organizers who want to buy or rent a pump track.

As our mobile pump track is made from recycled plastic, it actively contributes to reducing plastic waste. We are also working on a sustainable take-back solution: if a pump track is no longer needed at some point, the modules can be returned and recycled again.

The remaining material is already being processed into new pump tracks.

Fotoshooting in Recycling

Our goal is to make the Ecopumptrack available worldwide – as an innovative, sustainable and safe solution for pump track sports.

Ecopumptrack stands for riding fun, safety and environmental awareness – and offers communities a pioneering opportunity to realize a cost-effective pump track with maximum flexibility.
